Part of our approach to educational/training programs is grounded in the notion of Positive Aging - an approach that emphasizes the positive aspects of growing older and how individuals can make important contributions to their own lives, their communities and organizations, and society as a whole.
Positive aging emphasizes the importance of programs and strategies that are designed to meet the changing needs of people across the life-span.
The Life-Span Perspective considers the patterns of change and transitions that occur in different areas of one's life (e.g., biological/physical, cognitive/mental, social/emotional). This perspective extends the concept to people of all ages and views the aging process as dynamic, adaptive, and influenced by the environment.
A positive aging approach targets many types of outcomes with the understanding that each can potentially influence the other. Outcomes such as those that relate to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, mental health, financial health, and social engagement.
